SSU Faculty Convocation

Friday, August 21st, 2026

The program will begin at 10:00am in Weill Hall at the Green Music Center as well as livestreamed via a link that will be made available on this page as well as emailed to the campus community on the morning of the event. The Weill Hall Lobby doors will open at 9:30am. 

University 2026-2027 welcome events begin at 8:00 AM in the Stevenson Atrium, followed by Faculty Convocation at 10:00 AM in GMC Weill Hall and the Back to School Cookout in the Main Quad. Please see information below for information on University Convocation events hosted by our campus partners both before and after the Faculty Convocation Program. No food or drink is permitted in Weill Hall.

10:00 - 10:05: Welcome & Land Acknowledgment: Bryan Burton, Chair of the Faculty
10:05 - 10:15: Michael E. Spagna, SSU President
10:15 - 10:20: Stacey Bosick, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
10:20 - 10:30: Honoring of the Faculty Excellence in Research, Scholarship, or Creative Activity, Service, and Teaching Awards Recipients
10:30 - 10:35: Aishwarya Chillal, Associated Students Vice President of Finance

  • Back to School Cookout - noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday, August 21 on the Main Quad outside Stevenson Hall. President Michael E. Spagna and the University Leadership Team cordially invite every member of the Sonoma State community -- students, faculty, and staff -- for an opportunity to kick off the 2026-27 academic year with food, games, conversation, and community.
