Faculty Governance Service & Opportunities
- Current and Upcoming Faculty Service Opportunities in Faculty Governance (Current Session); not all may be scheduled for election or appointment at this time (see the Constitution and Academic Senate By-laws for additional information regarding eligibility, elections, schedules, and related processes).
- Faculty Governance Membership and Opportunities per College or Area; please reach out to the respective college or area elections committee regarding college, academic department, *student, or administrative department seat status and related processes for the represented area. *Faculty Governance Associated Students (AS) member appointments are communicated through and consolidated by the Academic Senate Office to avoid overwhelming and confusing requests for AS member appointments to the AS Board. The AS Board is aware of the requested representation on the live Student Vacancies (Faculty Governance Current & Upcoming) report.

All-Faculty Representative Elections and Appointments Cycles Schedule
The Structures and Functions Subcommittee (S&F) executes all-faculty representation and appointments as detailed in the Constitution & By-laws, which includes all-faculty faculty governance (FG) officers, at-large member faculty governance seats, and requested appointments for all-faculty representatives on non-faculty governance university committees, with the following exceptions:
- Academic Senate Lecturer Senator/s seat/s election at-large, which reps lecturers, can only be filled by a lecturer, and is elected by an all-faculty electorate
- SSP II+ faculty governance seats elections, which rep SSP II+s and elected by SSP II+s, which currently lack a body that can coordinate and run their elections, so S&F offered until a coordinating body exists
- (first 3 weeks of each fall semester only) The call for eligible at-large instructional college unfilled seats, where the sub/committee size does not adjust, for the term of the current academic year, interest solicited at-large and appointed by S&F, reps the constituency tied to the seat
- Library, if requested by sub/committee and approved by Library Elections Committee - Call for at-large unfilled seats for the term of the current academic year, interest solicited at-large and appointed by S&F, reps the Library
College/area elections committees execute the following, and potentially additional area specific representation unique to their area/s:
- College/Area Rep Seats in faculty governance; for, from, and by College/Area
- College/Dept RTP Committees
- Instructional College Curriculum Committees
- College/Dept-specific representation on university committees
- & potentially more, based on the area-specific representation required

- Spring 2027
- Officer or At-large Senator with terms beginning 2027-2028 AY
- Call = 1/25/2027
- 2nd Call = 2/1/2027
- Election = 2/8/2027
- Runoff Election (if applicable) = 2/15/2027
- All-faculty Representative Elections & Appointments for terms beginning in 2027-2028 (*Currently scheduled despite the overlap with Spring Break, S&F will need to decide if or how to adjust)
- Call = 3/15/2027
- *Election = 3/29/2027 (or 3/22/2027, as Spring Break = 3/22-3/26/2027, a suggestion would be to have a 2-week call and shift the election one week, which would be S&F's decision)
- S&F Appointment (if applicable) = 3/30/2027
- *Runoff Election (if applicable) = 4/5/2027 (or 3/29/2027, see note above)
- Officer or At-large Senator with terms beginning 2027-2028 AY

For terms beginning 2026-2027 Academic Year, ballots must be cast by Sunday, September 6th, 2026. Please see the SSU Faculty Constitution and the Academic Senate By-laws for additional position, eligibility, and process information.
